This marks the first time one of these zombified parody posters has been offered at 24″ x 36″, and what a better poster to have than the ZOMBIE WARS fan favorite.

Previously, all of the Hollywood-is-Dead art prints have been produced as 13″ x 19″ limited editions. It’s a great size. Larger than cheap laser prints, but they don’t take up too much wall space, the idea being- you can collect them all.

But one of the biggest comments left about this image is, “Why don’t you have this as a full-size movie poster?” Well, now the time has come!

Nab the full size 24″ x 36″ movie poster edition of THE LIVING DEAD STRIKE BACK with all it’s serene projectile blood vomit love. The posters is a beaut- and belongs on your wall!

All prints come signed by artist Matt Busch, rolled and wrapped in plastic before shipping in sturdy cardboard to arrive safely to your door. You can order one by going to direct to the Online Store page below!

Busch first made waves with his undead parodies in 2009 with Zombie Wars (a project authorized by Lucasfilm) re-imagining all 6 Star Wars movie posters with his decrepit vision. Since the original media frenzy, Busch conceived a larger project and the outbreak expanded into an Online gallery at Hollywood-is-Dead.com. The current collection has over 60 posters, including Edward Scissorhands (Deadward Scissorhands), Toy Story (Toy Gory) and Breakfast at Tiffany’s (Breakfast is Tiffany).

For this 80′s series of zombified posters, Busch has returned to the roots that started it all; Star Wars. Busch explains, “When I illustrated the original set, for Return of the Jedi, I chose to parody Drew Struzan’s advance poster, which at the time was still called Revenge of the Jedi.” Since then, Fans have been demanding that Busch re-create the more familiar one-sheet design that was illustrated by Kazuhiko Sano. “Now, one will have the option of collecting a version that’s more of a montage. Together they tell a morbid story, and this completes the saga.”

The other Star Wars film that happened to be released in the 80′s, The Empire Strikes Back, is a fan favorite. The Hollywood-is-Dead version, The Living Dead Strikes Back, is no exception, featuring a zombified Han Solo projecting blood vomit onto an eagerly-awaiting zombie Princess Leia. To commemorate, Busch is re-releasing the poster as a larger, full movie-poster-size print. Also coming to light this summer are vast 80′s classics like National Lampoon’s European Vacation (National Disaster’s European Vaccination), Prince’s Purple Rain (Prance’s Purple Pain) and The Lost Boys (The Last Boys).

Beginning Monday, June 18th, Busch will debut a new poster each weekday in the Hollywood-is-Dead gallery, through the rest of the month. In addition to the posters, Busch has recently struck a licensing deal with Fright-Rags, Inc. to produce high quality full color shirts based on the zombified parodies. One the horizon, a coffee table book is in development, as well as a board game. The Hollywood-is-Dead original paintings are currently exhibited in the ArtInsights Animation and Film Art Gallery in Reston, Virginia. Gallery owner Leslie Combemale states, “Yes, these images are over-the-top, but they are also a love note from Matt to the original artists who created these classics and to the dying art used to make great movie posters.”

Set to infest tinsel town this June, Matt Busch is putting the final touches on his latest series of zombified movie posters. This time, Busch is taking all ten of the new box office cadavers to a magical time in the history of cinema: the 1980s!

Busch comments, “The 80′s were such an awe-inspiring era of movies, plus, I was a child of the late 70′s / 80′s, so there’s nothing I’d like to do more than claw my way through those memories with undead visions.”

Some choice selections from the 80′s made the cut, including an alternate version of STAR WARS: RETURN OF THE JEDI. ”Originally, I illustrated the REVENGE teaser poster illustrated by Drew Struzan.” elaborates Busch, “I thought it would be nice to do the regular montage style one sheet, originally illustrated by Kazuhiko Sano. This way, the entire series of posters fits together more cohesively and aesthetically.”

The list of posters to be parodied in the upcoming all-80′s series is as follows:

3 MEN AND A BABY

THE BREAKFAST CLUB

THE DARK CRYSTAL

EUROPEAN VACATION

FERRIS BUELLER’S DAY OFF

THE LOST BOYS

PORKY’S

PURPLE RAIN

RETURN OF THE JEDI

THE TERMINATOR

In addition, to help celebrate the all-80′s theme, Hollywood-is-Dead.com will also be releasing its first zombified poster at actual movie poster size! While the existing 13″ x 19″ art prints have been a great size that’s also affordable, the overwhelming demand to have actual movie posters had to be met. First available? The fave-favorite, blood-vomiting, Zombie Wars: The Living Dead Strike Back!

Stay tuned for the madness to spread this June!

The full Press Release for the latest series is here:

HOLLYWOOD-IS-DEAD UNLEASHES NEW SUMMER BLOCKBUSTERS!

DETROIT, MI — Artist Matt Busch is about to unveil the fourth incarnation of Hollywood-is-Dead, a collection of hand-painted, re-imagined movie posters with a zombie twist. This time around, the series will focus on big-name blockbusters like Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (Lara Crypt: Tomb Riser) The Sixth Sense (The Sick Sense) and The Shawshank Redemption (Shawshank Reanimated). ”Summer is when all the studios release their big guns,” comments Busch, “so it’s perfect timing to pay homage to the wondrous posters that leave us in awe.”

Busch first made waves with his undead parodies in 2009 with Zombie Wars, a project authorized by Lucasfilm, repainting all 6 Star Wars movie posters with his decrepit vision. Media attention for the posters went as far as Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and G4TV. Since then, the outbreak expanded into an Online gallery, Hollywood-is-Dead.com, with over 40 posters, including Harry Potter (Scary Rotter), Toy Story (Toy Gory) and Breakfast at Tiffany’s (Breakfast is Tiffany).

For this latest series of zombified posters, Busch has returned to the roots that started it all; Star Wars. Busch explains, “When I illustrated the original set of Zombie Wars posters, I had no idea how big this was going to be, so I just picked my favorite poster images from the saga.” For Star Wars- Episode 4: A New Hope, Busch chose a rare poster image that Drew Struzan illustrated for the 10th Anniversary. ”A lot of collectors loved what I did, but purists have been begging for the standard one-sheet that everyone knows. Thus, the Zombie Wars: A New Epidemic alternate version has now been infected.”

Also coming to light this summer is the complete Lord of the Rings Trilogy (Lord of the Rank: The Festering of the Rotten, The Tomb Towers, and Return from the Crypt). Busch also completes the previous Indiana Bones trilogy with the fourth installment based on Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Busch chimes, “The original title is already so ridiculously long, so I had a lot of fun putting a spin on that. Plus, each sequel poster develops the undead evolution of its decrepit saga.”

In addition to the posters, Busch has recently struck a licensing deal with Fright-Rags to produce high quality full color shirts. Fright-Rags is known as the leader in horror apparel and has already released a shirt branding the art for Zombie Wars: The Living Dead Strike Back.

As well, the Hollywood-is-Dead original paintings are exhibited in the ArtInsights Animation and Film Art Gallery in Reston, Virginia. Portions of the gallery sales are donated to the Nation Film Preservation Foundation. Gallery owner Leslie Combemale states, “Yes, these images are over-the-top, but they are also a love note from Matt to the original artists who created these classics and to the dying art used to make classic movie posters.”
